sold - one of a kind 'the ocean blue' wall piece

each & every piece of these wall hangings are designed, hand cut, cleaned, fired, cleaned again, glazed & fired for the second time, & sanded once more!   the moon & ocean pieces are all fairly chunky & glazed with beautiful, full range colors; some with crackles, some with speckles & all unique. this particular piece is glazed with a strong, sumptuous cobalt blue & just over 2 feet in length.  they are strung on strong leather cord & come ready to hang. several pieces of california beach driftwood reminiscent of sea mammals have been attached; i just love how anthropomorphic the wood looks.  all of my glazes are non-toxic.

this is part of an ongoing series whereby i explore & express my love for our oceans, the solar system & our place in it. these particular pieces are inspired by this brilliant quote:

“I have been feeling very clearheaded lately and what I want to write about today is the sea. It contains so many colors. Silver at dawn, green at noon, dark blue in the evening. Sometimes it looks almost red. Or it will turn the color of old coins. Right now the shadows of clouds are dragging across it, and patches of sunlight are touching down everywhere. White strings of gulls drag over it like beads.
