these little catch all plates are perfect for jewelry holders, spoon rests, tea steeper caddies, tea light candles... & on.  these are all one of kind & mimic the beautiful coastal seaweeds up & down the california shores i am endlessly inspired by.  these mini rests have been all hand-formed, & then designed with these cobalt amorphous seaweed shapes blown onto them with a special technique.  they are then fired twice, sanded, & glazed by hand with a clear bright finishing glaze.  all of my glazes are non-toxic.  these also sit well with your other meaningful objects that have specific lovely uses. these are sold in pairs & you will receive 2 unique rests in your order.  these are in my studio & ready to ship.

inspirational quotes that evoke the feeling of these pieces:

"In their choice of lovers both the male and the female reveal their essential nature.  The type of human being we prefer reveals the contours of our heart.  Love is an impulse which springs from the most profound depths of our beings, and upon reaching the visible surface of life carries with it an alluvium of shells and seaweed from the inner abyss.  -Jose Ortege y Gasset

“There long he sojourned alone and roamed about the shore or fared over the rocks at the ebb, marvelling at the pools and the great weeds, the dripping caverns and the strange sea-fowl that he saw and came to know; but the rise and fall of the water and the voice of the waves was ever to him the greatest wonder and ever did it seem a new and unimaginable thing.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien

One day people will touch and talk perhaps easily, and loving will be natural as breathing and warm as sunlight, and people will untie themselves, as string is unknotted, unfold and yawn and stretch and spread their fingers, unfurl, uncurl like seaweed returned to the sea, and work will be simple and swift as a seagull flying, and play will be casual and quiet as a seagull settling, and the clocks will stop, and no one will wonder or care or notice, and people will smile without reason, even in winter, even in the rain.
